Porch

The porch was panelled in oak, also the work of Mr Sam Dibb, in 1889 as a memorial to Mr Richard Clairborne Dixon.

WWI memorial names

Following the WW1, it was decided to create a War Memorial for those members of the parish who had been killed. The money for this was raised by subscription, and there were many subscribers. In all, there were 208 names added to the list. All the men are listed in strict alphabetic order by surname and with no rank or regiment. The memorial was designed by Messrs T.H. & F. Healey and constructed by Mr S. Dibb of Shipley. The carving was by Mr J. Heaton of Shipley. The memorial was dedicated on 11th December 1921.

The Bell-ringing record board

The first six bells for St Paul’s were installed in 1826 and then Treble and Tenor bells added in 1867.  All the bells were cast by Messrs Mears of Whitechapel, in London.  It is reported that when Mr Mears (the bell-founder) first saw the Church he remarked that he had not seen in any part of the country a church so admirably suited for the effect of bells The completed peal of eight bells was first rung on 16th March 1867.

Due to wear and tear, it is occasionally necessary to renovate the bell mechanisms.  This board, currently in the porch, records the re-dedication of the fells in 1912 following one such.  The method (way in which the bells are rung) – Kent Treble Bob Major – and names of the bell ringing team are recorded.  Other boards/plaques are in the ringing chamber.
